Cardell McFarland comes to the team with advanced experience with working with pro-level athletes on and off the court, bringing a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the role.
Before his tenure at Kentucky Wesleyan, McFarland ran a successful basketball skills and development business for five years, where he trained NBA and Division I athletes. From 2018-2020, he also assisted with the Indiana Elite 3SSB team.
McFarland’s professional playing career spanned six years overseas, where he competed in Switzerland, Romania, Australia, England, Slovakia, and Germany. He earned multiple First-Team All-League honors and played in the Switzerland All-Star game against their national team early in his career.
A proud Kentucky Wesleyan alumnus, McFarland played for the Panthers from 2010-2012, earning NCAA Midwest Region All-Tournament team honors in 2012, and GLVC First-Team recognition in 2011-12 and Third-Team in 2010-11. Over two seasons, he amassed 901 points (18.4 ppg), shot 53% from the field, 42% from three-point range, and recorded 171 assists. Notably, he scored a career-high 47 points in a victory over No. 2 Bellarmine on February 19, 2011. Prior to Kentucky Wesleyan, he spent two years at DI Missouri State, starting 19 of 34 games played.
